So, the simple difference between these treatments is that a Brazilian Blowout is a topical product and a keratin treatment fills in gaps in the hair shaft and changes the actual bonds. With a Braz Blowout you’re looking at increased shine and manageability that slowly fades off of the hair over the course of 3 months. With a keratin you’re looking at more of a grow out situation and roots, as well as some reversion. I say reversion because all chemical services oxidize and fade to some extent. Whether it be your colour or a perm, there’s always some diffusion of the initial process.

The whys for getting either service have as much to do with your personality as well as your hair texture. Braz Blowouts tend to be a better fit for wavy to curly and generally frizzy texture that you’d like to keep smoother. Keratins are a bit more aggressive and are better fit for coils that you’d like to remove a lot of volume from and have the option to wear straight. I personally tend to prefer Braz Blowouts because of the exterior finish is shinier which makes the hair dry quicker whether with a blow dryer or air drying. Keratins tend to make the hair straighter but add additional porosity which can cause the hair to take longer to dry. It’s not about one being better than the other, it’s really about preference. I always want people to embrace their natural texture but we all like options and ease.
